<p>Dr. Katherine Skinne<b>r</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> serves as the Executive Director of the Educopia Institute, a not-for-profit educational organization that empowers collaborative communities to create, share, and preserve knowledge. In this role, she has helped to found and support the </span><a href="http://metaarchive.org/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">MetaArchive Cooperative</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, the </span><a href="http://librarypublishing.org/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Library Publishing Coalition</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, the </span><a href="http://bitcuratorconsortium.org/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">BitCurator Consortium</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, the </span><a href="https://themaintainers.org/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Maintainers</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, and the </span><a href="https://www.softwarepreservationnetwork.org/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Software Preservation Network</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Skinner received her Ph.D. in American Studies from Emory University. She has co-edited four books and has authored and co-authored numerous reports and articles, including </span><a href="https://educopia.org/cultivation"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Community Cultivation – A Field Guide</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> (2018) and </span><a href="https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/open-knowledge-institutions"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Open Knowledge Institutions: Reinventing Universities</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> (2021). She has served as Principal Investigator on almost 20 research projects to date and regularly teaches graduate courses and provides consultation services.</span></p>
