NISO Annual Members Meeting, June 30, 2022

The NISO Annual Members Meeting took place via Zoom on Thursday, June 30, from 11am - 12.30pm EDT/4pm - 5.30pm BST. This program was open to the public and all were welcome to participate. You will hear from our Executive Director, Todd Carpenter, and other NISO staff about important organizational issues, including updates on progress on our 2020-22 strategic plan, the NISO Plus conference, our organizational finances, NISO’s international engagement, and our standards program. It was also a chance for you to ask us any questions you have about our organization and how we operate, as well as to share your own feedback about NISO and our work.

Each year, NISO hosts a number of other virtual events, most of which are free and open to all. These include our annual members meeting, updates on NISO standards, online workshops, and more. Recordings are made openly available to the community as soon as possible after the event.

Jason Griffey

Director of Strategic Initiatives - NISO


Jason Griffey is the Director of Strategic Initiatives at NISO, where he works to identify new areas of the information ecosystem where standards expertise is useful and needed, and leads ongoing projects such as NISO’s participation in the Coalition for Seamless Access. Prior to joining NISO in 2019, Jason ran his own technology consulting company for libraries, has been both an Affiliate at metaLAB and a Fellow and Affiliate at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, and was an academic librarian in roles ranging from reference and instruction to Head of IT at the University of TN at Chattanooga.

Jason has written extensively on technology and libraries, including multiple books and a series of full-periodical issues on technology topics, most recently AI & Machine Learning in Libraries and Library Spaces and Smart Buildings: Technology, Metrics, and Iterative Design from 2018. He has spoken internationally on topics such as artificial intelligence & machine learning, the future of technology and libraries, decentralization and the Blockchain, privacy, copyright, and intellectual property. He is one of eight winners of the Knight Foundation News Challenge for Libraries for the Measure the Future project (http://measurethefuture.net), an open hardware project designed to provide actionable use metrics for library spaces.

Griffey is the creator and director of The LibraryBox Project (http://librarybox.us), an open source portable digital file distribution system. He can be stalked obsessively online, and spends his free time with his daughter Eliza, reading, obsessing over gadgets, and preparing for the inevitable zombie uprising.

Nettie Lagace

Associate Executive Director - NISO


Nettie Lagace is the Associate Executive Director at NISO, where she is responsible for facilitating the work of NISO's topic committees and development groups for standards and best practices, and working with the community to encourage broad adoption of this consensus work. Prior to joining NISO in 2011, Nettie worked at Ex Libris, where she served for 11 years in a number of library and information provider-facing roles, working on link resolver, electronic resource management and recommender software. She holds an M.I.L.S. from the University of Michigan.

Prior to joining NISO in May 2011, Nettie worked at Ex Libris, where she served for 11 years in a number of library and information provider-facing roles, most recently Product Director, working on the SFX link resolver, Verde electronic resource management software, and bX scholarly recommender service. Her previous positions were at Baker Library, Harvard Business School, and the School of Information, University of Michigan. Nettie holds a Masters of Library and Information Studies degree from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College.
