NISO Plus 2023 was a virtual global event which happened around the world on February 14-16, 2023. Building on our track record of engagement and conversation, we brought the same quality of content from 2020-2022 to our 2023 gathering. Dozens of amazing speakers and keynotes from across the globe share their knowledge and expertise on important topics for the information community.
Retracted research—published work that is withdrawn, removed, or otherwise invalidated from the scientific and scholarly record—can be, and often is, inadvertently propagated within the digital scholarly record through citations. These citations are more likely to happen when content is 'silently' withdrawn or when the process for effectively communicating retraction at all publication lifecycle stages is unclear. Since Summer 2022, NISO's CREC Working Group has been at work to create a Recommended Practice to address and provide a community-driven solution to this issue. The Recommended Practice is now in a draft state, ready to be shared with and receive feedback from the public. Join CREC Working Group co-chairs Caitlin Bakker and Rachael Lammey, along with CREC Working Group Member and Sloan Foundation grant recipient Dr. Jodi Schneider, as they discuss the project, the draft’s current status, and seek input from the community.
During the months of full and partial lockdown, organizations have had to support their workforce in a variety of ways. Budgets have been revisited. Equipment has been provided and deployed to enable staff to work remotely. And, importantly, working practices — including meetings, staff management, deliverables, and more — have had to change, often significantly. What has the impact been on information workflows and internal systems? How did institutions and organizations in our community work to mitigate some of the significant challenges experienced by their workforce? In this webinar we will hear from information industry professionals about how they and their organizations supported the people in their workforce and what they learned they could do to support them.

The NISO Annual Members Meeting took place via Zoom on Thursday, June 29, from 11am - 12.30pm EDT/4pm - 5.30pm BST. This program was open to the public and all were welcome to participate. You heard from our Executive Director, Todd Carpenter, and other NISO staff about important organizational issues, including updates on progress on our strategic plan, the NISO Plus conference, our organizational finances, NISO’s international engagement, and our standards program. It was also a chance for you to ask us any questions you have about our organization and how we operate, as well as to share your own feedback about NISO and our work.
